  1. Click on the " + " to create a new project.
Overview

In this project, we are going create a jungle and fill it with animals!

Step 1: Create the backdrop

  1. Tap on the backdrop icon on the top of the screen.
  2. Select the correct jungle backdrop.
  3. A backdrop is just a picture.
  4. It makes our project look nicer!

Step 2: Delete the cat

  1. Tap and hold on the cat on the left side of the screen.
  2. Tap the red x that appears.
  3. This deletes the cat.

Step 3: Create the frog.

  1. Tap on the blue "+" on the left side of the screen.
  2. Find the frog and double-tap on it!

Step 4: Find the "Start on Tap" block.

  1. Tap on the yellow Events tab.
  2. Drag out a "Start on Tap" block.
  3. This block tells the code to start when this sprite is tapped.

Step 5: Make our frog hop!

  1. Tap on the blue Motion tab.
  2. Drag out a "hop" block.
  3. Attach it to the "Start on Tap" block.

Test your work

  1. Tap the frog to watch your frog hop!

Step 6: Keep hopping!

  1. Bring out 3 more "hop" blocks.
  2. Now, you should have 4 "hop" blocks.
  3. How many times do you think the frog will hop?

Step 7: Create the butterfly.

  1. Tap on the blue "+" on the left side of the screen.
  2. Find the butterfly and double-tap on it.

Step 8: Find the "Start on Tap" block.

  1. Tap on the yellow Events tab.
  2. Drag out a "Start on Tap" block.
  3. What does this block do again?

Step 9: Make our butterfly move!

  1. Tap on the blue Motion tab.
  2. Drag out a "move right" block.
  3. Attach it to the "Start on Tap" block.

Step 10: Make our butterfly move!

  1. Now, drag out a "move left" block.
  2. Attach it to the "move right" block.

Step 11: Keep moving!

  1. Now, let's move some more!
  2. Drag out a "move right" block.
  3. Drag out a "move left" block.
  4. Drag out a "move right" block.
  5. You should have 5 move blocks now.

Test your work

  1. Tap the "green flag" on the top right to watch your butterfly fly back and forth!
  2. How many times does the butterfly move?
  3. How many times does the frog hop?
  4. How many times would the butterfly move if we added two more move blocks to its code?

Step 12: Create the snake.

  1. Tap on the blue "+" on the left side of the screen.
  2. Find the snake and double-tap on it.

Step 13: Find the "Start on Tap" block.

  1. Tap on the yellow Events tab.
  2. Drag out a "Start on Tap" block.
  3. What does this block do again?

Step 14: Make our snake move!

  1. We're going to make the snake move right three times, then move left 3 times.
  2. Tap on the blue Motion tab.
  3. Drag out 3 "move right" blocks.
  4. Attach them to the "Start on Tap" block.

Step 15: Make our snake move!

  1. Tap on the blue Motion tab.
  2. Drag out 3 "move left" blocks.
  3. Attach them to the "move right" blocks.

Test your work

  1. We're done!
  2. Tap each sprite to see how it moves!

  1. What is the green flag?
  2. What is a sprite?
  3. How many times does each sprite move?
  4. What if we changed the number of blocks in any sprite?
  5. What if we changed the order of the blocks on the snake?
